Description
The buildings have
no interior columns. Made entirely of steel, our buildings allow for
future expansion on either end by using 12-foot long modules. Furthermore,
all components can be dismantled.
Wall and ceiling
design allows for immediate insulation or you may choose to insulate
at a later date. A 6-inch thick (R20) or 4-inch thick (R12) fiberglass
insulation is used for the walls, while a 12-inch thick (R32) loose-fill
insulation is used for the ceiling.

|
Foundations
For buildings less
than 25 feet wide, foundations consist of a continuous footing with
an 8-inch thick foundation wall, and for larger buildings, a foundation
wall of a minimum of 10 inches thick is used. In certain specific cases,
a reinforced concrete slab with drainage is used.

Framework
All framework components
are made of steel. They are dimensioned and assembled in a way to resist
the static loads and combined loads specified in the regional and National
Building Codes. Components are shop fabricated, and they receive one
coat of gray primer in accordance with the 1 - GP 40 D standard.
Columns are fabricated
using pre-drilled, square hollow steel sections to allow the installation
of joists, wall girts and anchors.
Joists are also
fabricated using pre-drilled, square hollow steel sections to allow
the installation of bracing and girts for roofs and ceilings. These
joists are cathedral ceiling style and each one is delivered to the
construction site in two sections.

|
Wall girts
Girts are "Z"
shaped in galvanized steel and are 12 feet long. They are also shop-fabricated
and pre-drilled to be attached to joists and columns for fastening the
interior and exterior steel siding. Finally, these girts are bolted
to the main structure.

Steel siding
The exterior steel
siding is roll formed and measures 36 inches in width. The steel used
for this section is 26 gauge exterior and 29 gauge interior. It has
a minimum yield strength of 80 000 lbs/sq.ft and a tensile strength
of 82 000 lbs/sq.ft. It is zinc coated on each side and primed and painted
in enamel on the exterior side or has a galvanized finish. A range of
standard colors is available and they can be mixed at no extra cost.
The siding is cut to length
and pre-drilled in shop every 9 inches c/c horizontally and every 36
inches c/c for the roof and 48 inches c/c for th walls in order to insert
fastening screws. These screws have painted heads and washers. A neoprene
washer is also attached to each screw. All of the flashing supplied
is painted or galvanized according to choice.

|
Door and window openings
Galvanized steel
doorjambs are supplied with supports fastened every 48 inches c/c at
the back in order to hold girts. Two jambs are supplied for each opening
and are made of 4-inch "C" sections. The dimensions of the
clear opening are specified precisely for fabrication.
